2025-2026 PMQG Quilt Challenge
Garden Walk
For this year’s challenge we’re going to take a walk through the garden! One of my favorite places to visit is the conservatory at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. (If you’ve never been and want to go, let me know I love going. The colors, the variety, the smells – what’s more relaxing than being around nature? Putting it into our quilting of course!!
Everyone will choose a flower to cultivate from our garden (aka the pack of ID cards I, Jen Walker, have) and make a hanging, runner, bag or centerpiece inspired around that flower.
Size guide line – 20" x 20" or up to 36" x 36"
Due – April 8th 2026 meeting
As always with any challenge: HAVE FUN!! It doesn’t have to be the flower itself. It could be inspired by the color or the temperate zone they’re from! There’s no limit to what you can find yourself making.
Any questions or need some help getting inspired, let me know!
This challenge is to help inspire & expand your improv quilting skills! For each category, you will roll the corresponding dice and at the end, use those rolls to create a quilt! We’re looking for anything around 36 x 36 for this challenge so let the inspiration flow and let fate guide your roll to help you tell a story!
Feel free to use fabric from your stash or exchange with a friend! This can be a great way to clean up any fabric that’s laying around.
Most importantly: HAVE FUN! Challenges are due April 9th 2025.
Instructions:
For each category, we’ll roll 4 dice – two 20 sided, and two 12 sided. These rolls will correspond with each chart. Once you have your color, skillset/technique, and fabric theme to work with, you can get to work!
